Client software is required. Options include qBittorrent and Deluge. I use Vuze; simply choose the file to open in that program and it will begin downloading. Torrents rely on P2P links, so files are broken into chunks (4-20mb each) and shared with other users. After completion, the downloaded content matches what you'd get from a full download via a browser.
