The boot indicator remains active, but no USB devices are recognized. The screen displays a message prompting the user to press F2 to proceed, yet I’m unable to do so because no devices are connected. Oddly, the display doesn’t appear after reinstalling the i3, even though all USB ports function properly. The i5 8500 was originally from a stable system; I’m certain it should work now. Since I can’t access that setup, testing isn’t possible. Occasionally it powers on but stays illuminated on the CPU debug light. I’ve allowed up to ten minutes before restarting and clearing CMOS, after which it slowly cycles through diagnostic lights before halting at startup—no USB devices are functional. Sometimes when it attempts to power up via the post light, it restarts instantly only to freeze on the CPU indicator. I’ve experimented with two different RAM modules, reworked the processor, updated the BIOS (but M.F.L. can’t read extracted files), and cleared CMOS—none resolved the issue. Motherboard details: MSI H310M Pro-VH Plus, Corsair CX500 RAM #1, Adata AD4U266638G19-8, Corsair Vengeance CMK8GX4M1A2666C16, BIOS version E7C13IMS, SD card Samsung 850 EVO.

The good news is that the motherboard supports that processor, though a BIOS update might be necessary. It seems you're running BIOS version 13, which now includes support for this CPU in version 10. The latest release is 17, and I've attached links to both versions. You may want to test them (using the i3 installed on the board). If the update fails, check that all pins are correctly seated. It's also possible the i5 is failing due to overheating or other issues.

Cpu pins appear fine, no signs of damage or bending. I attempted to flash v17 but m flash didn’t detect any files. Tried v15 which resolved the issue, though I still face the same problem—no progress past the post light. I left the i5 running for roughly two hours after applying fresh thermal paste; it seems to be dead. I’m considering trying v10 next to see if that works.

V10 also performs the same.
