You're seeing a big difference in performance between your setup and your friend's. The main factor is the GPU. Despite having similar CPUs (both i5-13600KF), your friend's 6900XTX offers much higher performance. Consider checking if your GPU drivers are up to date, ensuring you're using high-performance power settings, and making sure no background apps are consuming resources. If temperatures or clock speeds are stable, try adjusting in-game settings further or testing with a different game version. Let me know if you want more specific tips!
java can be unpredictable. Are you on the same server? That matters a lot, as changes there can greatly affect frame rate. I started the game without mods, shaders, or OptiFine on my 32GB RAM system with a 5800X3D and 9070X processor. After updating to the new spring update, I entered a snow biome village, then adjusted settings after some waiting. I switched to a 24 chunk/s distance to improve movement. Ignore brightness—it’s HDR effects. I achieved around 300–500 FPS. The game fluctuates a lot because it loads and unloads assets. My PC is now better, but it’s not a noticeable jump over 200 more FPS. Both of you should see an improvement. This is why we need to understand more details—what version are you playing? Is it modded? Are shaders used? And do you play in the same world?
We're running modded Minecraft with Complementary Shaders Reimagined. We're in different worlds but used identical settings and seed. Despite the same location, I experienced much lower FPS. My GPU is an RTX 4070 Ti while yours is an RX 6950 XT (I mistakenly thought it was a 6900XTX). Both use i5-13600KF processors, 24 simulation distance, 8 meters in simulation, and 12GB RAM on both systems.
