Observation of unusual boot actions triggered solely by powerup events.
I own a 4-year-old Windows 10 Pro PC (22H2, Build 19045.5487) built on an i9-11900KF, RTX 3080, with 64 GB DDR4/3200MHz RAM and a 2TB WD BLACK SN850 SSD. All updates are complete and there’s no overclocking. Everything functions perfectly when running normally. Restarting works without issues. However, if I power down and then restart, I encounter several problems:
It usually takes 4-5 restarts to get it going,
The first issue is a freeze when reaching the Windows login screen,
The second is entering my password and seeing the desktop but then freezing,
The third time I see a BSOD with the error code CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT, which leads to a restart option, after which everything seems normal.
Once it’s running, the system operates smoothly without crashes. It always restarts correctly, except when starting from power off, where it often requires 4-5 cycles of manual shutdown and reboot before functioning properly.
Anyone have any suggestions or help? This is really frustrating.
