Observation of unusual activity or fluid leakage on the motherboard.
Hi everyone, I recently replaced my CPU and installed a memory card reader. I observed some odd leftover material on the motherboard, but performance hasn’t dropped noticeably and there’s no strange behavior. Everything seems normal now—just a bit of unexpected residue. I’ve reassembled the system and everything is running as expected. Any advice? Should I worry? My specs are all set. Thanks, Jordan.
Probably the thermal paste/ oily thing from the thermal pad It's not conductive so nothing to worry about
I shared the same idea too, and now you're really piqued! I have a photo that could indicate it was absent during the initial setup.
Zooming in closely reveals a silver appearance instead of black, suggesting it may already be absent. However, the image remains pixelated, making it difficult to confirm the exact state. It's unclear if the component was removed completely or not. Since it functions properly, the issue doesn't seem critical. Still, reaching out to ASUS to inquire about the missing IC might be worthwhile.
Thanks a lot for your responses! I'll reach out as soon as I can.
You've received multiple emails from ASUS support regarding what they call "customer induced damage," which they say voids the warranty under section 7-3 of their policy. It seems challenging to confirm whether the issue was caused by my actions, so I'm taking this as a chance to improve future builds by doing a more careful inspection—though I’m not sure how they managed quality control during testing. Thanks for your guidance, Jordan!
