Linus prefers XSplit over OBS for reasons beyond just cost. The main difference lies in features and performance, making one more suitable depending on your needs. In my view, XSplit offers advantages that OBS might not provide, especially if you're looking for advanced tools.

I began my streaming experiments with Xsplit, but became really frustrated and stopped using it. Then I switched to OBS, which worked much better and was more enjoyable. Since then, I've been using OBS consistently. I also tried Nvidia ShadowPlay once, though it didn't reach the quality of Xsplit or OBS.

OBS offers many more settings to tweak, and I've found it works well for me.
