You're new to OBS and having trouble getting the video recorded. It sounds like the audio is being captured on a black screen, which might mean the video isn't showing properly. The video displays a black screen or the final shot before you pressed play. Additionally, I experience crashes during the start of recording.
Open OBS, verify the settings you need. Start your game. Press Alt+Tab to switch to OBS and begin recording. Use Alt to return to the game. Then press Alt again in OBS, choose the game properties, then press Alt to play. Return to OBS and go back to the game. This is my reliable method for getting it done.
