I tried using an older Toshiba laptop from 2013 to run Oblivion, but it didn’t recognize the hardware and set itself to medium performance. After some guesswork, I figured it might be a compatibility issue. Since I’m not very experienced with computers, I’m hoping someone can help me figure out how to fix this without being too technical. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

It's the latest Dell Inspiron 15 3000 series. Runs Intel i5 8th gen, 1TB hard drive, 8GB RAM. The Toshiba one wasn't great, and the top choice was another Dell Inspiron with an Intel i7 7700HQ, 8GB RAM, 128 SSD, GTX1050, and a 1000GB HDD. The Oblivion version you mentioned was the GOTY edition; I got it from Steam if that matters.
