Approximately 30 minutes ago Google and Microsoft reported successful login attempts on my accounts. Both services blocked the access and sent me notifications. I changed my Google password, but my Microsoft account remains locked. My passwords seem complex, incorporating CPU numbers, a Sony VAIO model, and a Volvo engine code. I’m quite concerned. The IP address came from Google, and I ran a scan with MalwareBytes. It appears a keylogger could have been the method used. Is that possible? I’m unsure what to do next.
I don't have a VPN. The login came through one. This IP address can't be pinged, and the machine was marked as "Unknown," which is Google's response when it identifies a server.
Did you log in to Gmail or Hotmail using your mobile data before receiving the alert? That’s likely the reason.
Two-step verification is active on both Google and Microsoft accounts. The location information is uncertain; I accessed via my phone’s internet, which indicated Seattle, Washington, while I was actually in Iowa. It seems the server used for the connection may have influenced this result.
