Hi everyone. I'm trying to set up an AM4 motherboard with a Rog X470-f, using two NVMe drives. The problem is that I'm connecting my GPU in a lower slot and not in the 16x lane because of bandwidth sharing. I need a motherboard upgrade so I can use two NVMe drives and still place my GPU in the 16x lane without affecting it. Any suggestions?
Which GPU do you own? Unless you have a 2080ti or a similar model that can handle high bandwidth, it’s not worth upgrading your board for minimal gains.
Currently, the GPU is connected to the bottom slot with two NVMe drives. If I put it in the 16x lane, it sometimes starts up and other times doesn't.
Requires a distinct CPU paired with a different chipset. Non-workstation models from both Intel and AMD allocate 16 lanes to the initial x16 port. Inserting anything into the second x16 port reduces both slots to x8. No existing solution bypasses this behavior. You'll need a Threadripper or an Xeon board not built for desktop chipsets. Mostly it doesn’t depend on lane positioning. Wipe the slot free of debris before inspecting.
The current setup is ready. If I swap my GPU from the second slot to the first, I usually don’t need regular boots.
