You're thinking about buying a used 08 Mac Pro tower and checking if the 10 series GPUs work. Good to know Nvidia has released official drivers for them on MacOS recently.

It should function properly without a boot screen, preserving your existing GPU. You'll experience significant CPU constraints in most applications, preventing full GPU utilization even on high-end cards.

This mac is for working with data from around 2008, but it’s getting quite outdated.

Absolutely, the 2010s and beyond remain excellent options, offering up to two six-core processors at affordable prices.

You're interested in an older Mac Pro because of its design and build quality. Are you drawn to the case style?

I don’t really understand why. It’s mostly because I can. I actually wanted a full desktop Mac and didn’t feel the need to choose a smaller model like a mini or iMac.
