Numerous inquiries regarding Handbrake's video compression process have been addressed.
I have a rendered video from my editing software and I want to shrink its size using Handbrake while keeping quality intact. Does compression work on this file? The specifications are 8000 kpbs bitrate, 720p20, 16 minutes long. If I choose the Medium, Slow, or Slower slider—slowdowns can take a day and may ruin the video’s usability—will it help reduce the size without causing blocky artifacts? Or is it just a time-waster? Testing various sliders hasn’t changed much in size, so should I stick to normal H265 or use H264 without acceleration? Does H265 really halve the file size? Is this approach effective or just inefficient?
I choose to heavily edit my videos for shorter length and smaller files, it will halve them but that's okay.
