But... but the big issue remains... Can it handle a crisis? It doesn’t seem to be affecting my GPU much! Another GPU usually helps. But the filtering doesn’t really boost my FPS ^ Ugh, Crysis 3!

Turn off SMAA, it’s the toughest setting for AA. Same with metro 0.5x SMAA = 20 fps, turning it off brings it to 55-65 fps. It doesn’t seem to make a big difference.

SMAA is inexpensive, SSAA is costly, and MSAA is the third heaviest

I maintain consistent 60 frames per second at 1080p resolution with all settings at their highest. Only AA performs at SMAA 4x, while MSAA 8x causes fps to drop to about 48-50 and sometimes recovers near 60.

Others have mentioned it isn't very well optimized. If you're seeking games with impressive graphics, consider trying Metro: Last Light and The Vanishing of Ethan Carter.

Another person mentioned it somewhat, but are you certain you're not confusing SMAA with SSAA? SMAA is a post-processing step for AA and isn't included in the main pipeline. It's still more intense than MFAA and FXAA but appears much improved.

At 1080p it's barely holding above 60, dropping to the 50s even with 2x SMAA.

I can handle it, okay? Let me see when I get home. I really want to mention I'm at top settings—2xms, 85-90fps. I've never managed to remember SMAAS, TXAA, MSAA before. Don't want to come across as completely clueless either.
