I increased my 6600k to 4.5ghz at 1.200v and everything is working well while playing games. However, when I tried to run Prime95 tests, two workers would stop right away. I’m really puzzled about this. After checking the monitor, it shows all cores are active with CPU utilization. Could anyone assist me?

If prime95 is halting operations, it suggests your OC isn't completely reliable. I would perform several stress tests to check the outcomes. But failure of prime95 alone doesn't guarantee issues in regular use.

It's exactly what you need. Suitable enough for your games. Not stable enough for Prime95. Most Skylake enthusiasts don't test stability with Prime95 either. I usually rely on ASUS Realbench for the Ks and AIDA64 for the others. Personally, I prefer AIDA64 to check my Skylake because it doesn't cause excessive overheating.

It's just the right balance for your games. Not enough stability for Prime95. Most Skylake overclockers skip checking with Prime95 anyway. They usually rely on ASUS Realbench for Ks and AIDA64 for non-Ks. I personally use AIDA64 to test my Skylake because it doesn't cause too much overheating.

Ray Rin shares his experience with stability testing. He notes most Skylake overclockers skip Prime95 checks, using ASUS Realbench and AIDA64 instead. He personally prefers AIDA64 for Skylake due to better heat management. The 1.2v setting is low for a 4.5GHz CPU, leaving room for adjustments. He emphasizes that stability isn't crucial if the build isn't intended for Prime95.

It seems many stock systems available in stores won't work with Prime95.
