Not sure about connecting the RGB fans to new cases—where should I plug them in?
I bought a new case with improved airflow and cooling. It comes with two 200mm fans, which is the first time I’m adding RGB fans to my PC. I own an MSI MGP Z390 gaming plus, and I’m just trying to learn how to connect the cables from the case to my motherboard. Since this is my first time, I want to avoid plugging anything in the wrong spot, as I’ve heard mistakes can damage the board. If anyone has any tips or experience, it would be really helpful. I looked up the MSI specifications online. Your motherboard doesn’t require the 3-pin DRGB header needed for software management with these fans. There should be an RGB controller inside the case to manage the fans. You can modify the reset button on your case to handle your RGB effects. Most people don’t actually need it. With this approach, you won’t have to install the extra RGB software.
Connect the power wire to your PSU cable, attach the fans to the ARGB headers, and set the case reset switch for control.
The reset wire goes inside the switch on the controller. On the last photo, there appears to be a fan power source, but I’m unsure how to connect it to the motherboard without seeing a three-prong sys_fan. Your new case might support RGB lighting, but I’m not sure if it matches your board’s requirements. If you notice more problems with RGB connections, it might be best to return the item.
