I'm working on selecting a new CPU for my build. I have the Ryzen 3600, 3600X, and 3700X on consideration. The 2600 and 1800X models are also options. I'm mainly using this system for school and light gaming at 1080p, aiming for over 60 FPS. My budget is around $1500 CAD, and I plan to pair it with a Gigabyte 2070 Super GPU.

Consider 2nd or 3rd generation options if you can afford them. I own a first-gen CPU and it’s not a major issue, but I’d like to upgrade.

I'm not sure, but I need more details about your requirements. The 2700x might suit you, but it depends on what you're looking for. Spending extra for a 3rd gen could be worth it if it offers better performance or features.

The 3600 should suffice unless you run intensive multi-core tasks—it behaves similarly to a 3700x in gaming. Do you require additional peripherals within that price range? Also, the 2070S offers poor value in Canada; consider the RX 5700XT instead.

It varies based on the games you enjoy. I use Fallen Order with the original version, it works well but I’ll need to upgrade later depending on what you play and how long you plan to use the rig before upgrading.

I intend to keep this setup for a long time before upgrading, so the 3600 model seems like a solid choice.

I wasn't aware of that. Also, are there any driver problems with the AMD GPU?

Check if your Ryzen processor supports 3600MHz RAM or if 3200MHz is sufficient.

It helps even though it isn't required. I almost forgot this kit; it's just $16 more: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/jBZz...16d-16gvkc
