Hi! I'm trying to push this processor's speed higher but hit a ceiling at the current PCI-E frequency. Adding at least +5 is necessary, and I've seen on forums that PCI-E shouldn't be overclocked. Any advice or guidance would be appreciated. The components I'm using are: Foxconn G31MXP-K, Core2duo e8400, 2x2GB ddr2 kingston, gtx 560 1gb ddr5. I've attached the bios pictures (sorry, the camera's flash ruined them). Thanks!

I'm not certain—I've always used the p35 motherboard and have limited understanding of OC limits on other boards. Search results suggest some users have tried overclocking with it, but I'm unsure if they modified the CPU or not. In any case, you'll need to discover a method to increase FSB speed without changing PCIe settings, whether through modification or another approach.

Are you asking if you intend to block the PCI-e lane or increase voltage for your CPU?

Are you really intending to block the PCIe lane or increase the voltage for the CPU? I'm trying to overclock the CPU and might consider adding voltage too.

To achieve a better multiplier, you'd need to increase the voltage on your CPU, which might shorten its life (just for your knowledge). I suggest starting with a higher voltage, testing different frequencies, and then gradually reducing it until you find the stable voltage with the least power consumption.

As you recall, these CPUs feature locked multipliers, meaning they need to be overclocked by adjusting the FSB speed. On the motherboard, PCIe appears connected to FSB, which restricts further overclocking. If this is the case, the only viable method to achieve higher speeds is through modifying the CPU to be recognized as a higher bus chip.

If I recall accurately, these CPUs have a locked multiplier, meaning they need to be overclocked by adjusting the FSB. On the motherboard, PCIe appears to be linked to FSB, which restricts overclocking. If that's the case, the only solution might be to modify the CPU to be recognized as a higher bus chip: http://www.overclock.net/t/341123/intel-...-mod-guide

Is there a way to adjust PCIe speed? If you modify the FSB, it makes sense that both PCIe and RAM speeds would increase.

CountMike :
Isn't there manual setting for PCIe frequency ? If you OC thru FSB it's natural that PCIe frequency would raise too. (RAM) frequency too).
Check my photos sir. There is a separate option for CPU and PCIe. Hope you can help thanks!
