Hello everyone,
I recently purchased a GTX 1050 and connected it with a Q6600 at 2.4ghz. I used to use software to overclock my CPU, thinking it would help, but in reality it only made the system run faster without any real improvement in FPS. Instead of stable performance, games became extremely fast or even unplayable because of the sudden speed boost. I noticed the CPU clock increased in the software but not in other tools like ThrottleStop or system properties. When I turned off my PC and used setfsb, the clocks still showed the frequency I selected, but the system slowed down, making games run in slow motion. The only solution seems to be restarting the computer to reset all settings. Could anyone explain why this overclocking isn't working?
I know I'm using software for overclocking since my motherboard doesn't support BIOS overclocking.
System is Dell OptiX 755.
Thanks!
