Hello everyone, my Asus Tuf F15 fx506hm was functioning properly when powered off, but it stopped working completely when I tried to turn it on again. Even after plugging it into the wall, no lights appeared indicating a charge. Recently, it started working again after being sent to a repair shop. They informed me my 3060 GPU is dead because it wasn’t detected in the BIOS or task manager, and even when checking drivers, I received an error stating I needed a NVIDIA GPU installed. I attempted to contact ASUS through the warranty process, as it was less than a year old, but they claimed the warranty was void due to issues with VRMS pads and demanded £1500 for repairs. Could you offer some advice? Is this just a dead GPU, or are other parts still functioning correctly? All ports and the CPU are working fine, temperatures are normal, and performance is good.

It's tough to confirm if the GPU is truly malfunctioning. It doesn't seem very probable since you didn't observe any issues prior to its failure. Typically, a dead GPU becomes noticeable through flashing lights or other signs. The problem might relate to power supply issues. Consider sending it to a more specialized repair service that handles SMD soldering.

They performed some soldering because the laptop was off. They swapped out a few components near the GPU, but after replacing them, it still doesn’t power on and the GPU isn’t functioning.

Did you use the laptop while it was under warranty and changed the thermal paste to pads?

It was a used one, and I only opened it to install a new SSD and additional RAM.

They purchased it by opening it, and I confirmed with them.

They claimed otherwise but the platform makes it impossible to be completely sure

Well, it seems someone handled it. I’m still puzzled about why that would cancel the warranty either. Another thought is that buying used items isn’t a good idea for me right now.
