Hey there, forum members. I'm working on a family PC and hit a puzzling problem. It was running smoothly until the motherboard failed. I swapped it out for a similar model (Asus B85M-G) and installed an Intel Core i5-4670K, which is also a brand-new CPU since the older i5-4460 wouldn't fit with the updated BIOS. After these changes, the system starts up with this warning: "The current BIOS settings don't fully support the boot device." It suggests adjusting the CSM parameters. I've updated the BIOS to the latest version, tried turning CSM on/off and tweaking settings, but nothing changes. I've tested each SSD separately and still got no response. Also, the drives aren't showing up in BIOS or boot priority, and I can't see them when using a Windows installation USB and DISKPART. It's strange since both SSDs worked perfectly before the motherboard died. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

EDIT SPECS: Motherboard: Asus B85M-G Processor: Intel Core i5-4670K MEMORY: 8GB (2x4gb) DDR3 Corsair Vengeance SSD: Samsung 870 QVO 1TB Cooler: Intel Stock cooler GPU: None, using onboard. Updated Jan 23, 2023 by AmazingSturdy

I don’t have any hardware details to list. Could you clarify what you mean by “hardware specs”?

I don<|pad|> a bit different. Could you confirm if another PC is available to test the drives and cables? Try a different SATA port. Make sure it's secure. Otherwise, the problem might be with the motherboard. How old is it? Keep the CSM settings on or enabled.

In the CSM configuration, verify that storage is set to Legacy mode or legacy OP ROM first. When CSM is enabled, navigate to boot devices and choose Legacy OpROM Only to test. If this doesn’t work, you may also attempt Legacy or UEFI ROM options.

I haven't managed to verify the SSD functionality, but I acquired an HDD and connected it—unlike it, it doesn<|pad|> to spin, suggesting a power-related problem. I had the power supply inspected twice recently, both reporting as fine. The SSD is a 2019 model I saw online. It was recently replaced about a month ago, second-hand.

It was a power problem. Swapped the cables and it worked! Thanks to everyone for their help.
