Not available in HDR mode on the new MSI MAG274QRFQD.
Hello, your recent purchase of the MSI MAG274QRFQD monitor seems to be working well with your HP 15Bs180tx laptop and AMD Radeon R5 graphics. However, you're encountering difficulties activating HDR on the display. The internal settings indicate support for HDR Video Streaming, but the monitor's interface shows it as unsupported for both 'HDR Video Streaming' and 'Use HDR'. This could be due to a compatibility issue between your laptop and monitor, or possibly a setting misconfiguration on the monitor itself. It might help to check the manufacturer's guidelines or contact MSI support for further assistance.
Likely not, I'm using the same monitor connected via USB-C to my laptop. Windows 11 handles HDR just fine. There doesn't seem to be a dedicated switch in the OSD for turning it on or off. It might be because his laptop's HDMI is version 1.4. I think HDR support is only available on HDMI 2.0 and newer. From another discussion, it's unclear if that's accurate, as noted by @Average Nerd.
It's actually a better option since the monitor appears similar to an SDR, which many users find less appealing. However, it's still not worth activating unless you're curious about the included support features—they don't seem to be heavily promoted for this model.
increased cost to attract hesitant buyers. Probably a strategy.
These displays are marketed as selling points, unfortunately. MSI doesn’t emphasize HDR heavily either; they don’t promote it as a primary feature for their monitors. The review highlighted that HDR below HDR600 is misleading and shouldn’t be relied upon if you aim for true HDR playback. Interestingly, I didn’t originally plan to use HDR, yet certain games automatically enabled it, which confused me—lmao.
