Choosing these components is really challenging since everyone has mixed reviews about each brand and model. It’s clear nothing fits perfectly for all situations or times. You're right about skipping Gigabyte boards at the entry level—they work just fine once you move up to mid and high ranges. I recently switched from a Gigabyte B450m - DS3H to the GIgabyte X570s Aorus Master. At first, I picked the budget B450 because it felt like a backup setup, but it didn’t last long. Unexpectedly, the performance gap between the two models was significant without any special adjustments—just plug and play. With my 3700x, I noticed Cinebench R23 scores jumped by over 1300 points. That level of improvement surprised me. I’m quite satisfied now. There’s definitely more to explore when I start using their 'Active OC Tuner,' which has received good feedback on its performance. Right now I’m holding off on the next Ryzen release until early next year, hoping to upgrade to a top-tier chip for this build. Interestingly, because of the ongoing GPU issues, I’ll still be running an RX570 for a while longer.
So i've spent some good time looking up all these boards, i'm seeing a lot of good things about the Dark Hero, but absolutely nothing about the MSI MEG X570S Ace Max. I like the look of the Ace Max a whole lot better, but its hard to pick something when i cant find any info for it... I see it also has the 90A VRM's like the Dark Hero with lots of good quality components, costs pretty much the same, but it has more m.2 slots. It also has a thicker PCB and they tout that and the thicker copper as server grade, which... will be a big plus since this will eventually go into a server and will be on 24/7. @ShrimpBrime the data you pulled for the Dark Hero was good, whatever you are using, do you see anything for the MSI MEG X570S Ace Max? I cant find anything on this board... This board doesnt exist on Amazon, B&H, MicroCenter, Best Buy, or most other places.. In fact, the only two places i've found it are NewEgg and Walmart. Neither have any reviews and Walmart's looks to be overpriced... I assumed that maybe this board hasnt been released yet and upon looking, i found one single place that said it was released on 10/12, so its been out for almost 1 month. I figured i'd see more by now? Its weird... Anyone have any info on this board or any insight into how good it might be based on MSI's recent boards? Which is bound to be better with more stability and longer life? I'm leaning towards MSI only because of the looks, the extra M.2 ports, the PCB, and my history with ASUS and the fact that the Dark Hero is also ASUS, but super confused because i cant find info on the Ace Max.

I prefer Asus, as they are well-known among overclockers and offer solid BIOS configurations. Elmor, known as "TheStilt," contributes significantly to Asus bios documentation. Overclock.net features many contributors who share technical insights and testing results. Questions about longevity and stability require hands-on experience. The X570S Ace was launched in August, but no sales have occurred yet, so testing hasn't begun. Unless someone brings the board along with their findings, we lack concrete data. I own Asus boards that are ten years old, but they’re not suitable for future computing needs. Thought-provoking advice.
it works fine, the apex stands out as an ideal platform for intel. i’d prefer the dark hero to include two ram slots similar to the apex. it makes sense that the dark hero has four slots since most users target around 4000 with amd, oc switch, x570s, and no fans—already reported chipset fans failing after a year. the main concern would be expansion slots; if that’s your top priority, go for it.
