Hi, I just purchased an MSI B450 gaming pro carbon AC and am attempting to flash a BIOS to enable support for my R5 3600. So far, I've used six USB drives without success. Each USB triggers the motherboard to flash twice before displaying a steady red light on the BIOS LED. I've also experimented with various power supplies, but whenever I power on the PC, only the fans spin and an error message appears on the motherboard, confirming the BIOS wasn't flashed properly. Since I don’t have an older Ryzen chip to use M-Flash, what alternatives should I consider? Thanks for your help.
Typically, most motherboards support running executable files with a .exe extension
Prepare your USB by ensuring it’s formatted as FAT32. Obtain the newest BIOS file, change its name to MSI.ROM. Read through Page45 in your guide.
I attempted it. All USBs I've used are FAT32 formatted, and the BIOS file gets renamed properly—still nothing happening. The flash LEDs blink three times before turning solid red...
Consider starting with BIOS 7B85v17 since it was the first to support Ryzen 3000 series. Ensure only your USB flash drive is connected—no other USB devices or internal peripherals like AIO/fan controllers. If this isn't possible, you may need a Ryzen 1000/2000 series CPU for the flashing process. You might want to check a local computer store for BIOS services or look for a board that supports the 3000 series out of the box.
