You’re showing signs of being restricted and experiencing inconsistent performance. VPNs typically raise latency and can affect stability somewhat. I didn’t notice any reference to the games you’re attempting; however, if anti-cheat is involved—especially at the kernel level—it might identify the VPN and prevent access even with split tunneling. Assuming no other interference, your traffic should remain hidden from DNS lookups regardless of routing method.
I'm not aiming for kernel-level AC. I'm not using ESEA or similar services; I'm focusing on older game servers like IW4x and Plutonium. Counter Strike servers. You might want to disable the split tunnel when playing, or learn how to avoid using Nord for DNS. Solid summary. I've checked both connection settings—"don't use VPN for selected apps" and "use VPN for selected apps"—but they didn't help. The support rep said it would fix things, but it didn't. Also, in my earlier post I shared videos where NORD was promoted for gaming.
