Hello everyone, I noticed my two last RAM slots stopped functioning unexpectedly. Previously, I had two 8GB sticks at 3200MHz and added two more, which worked temporarily. Now it’s not working at all. I discovered that those slots are no longer compatible. I’m sure it’s not the RAM itself since they work individually or with another system, but whenever I try any of them, my PC won’t boot and the DRAM lights up. I can only use half of my RAM now, and the worst part is I can’t even enable dual-channel as shown in the photo. Do you think I should replace the motherboard or is there a solution? Thanks for your time.

What motherboard and processor are you using? Have you attempted to remove and reinstall your CPU?

I attempted to check for bent pins but found none. My motherboard is an Aorus B550 Pro V2 and my CPU is a Ryzen 5 5600X.

The memory controller resides on the CPU, not the motherboard. Have you checked the RAM after reinstalling the CPU? Consider updating the BIOS or performing a reflash. Verify the CMOS battery voltage. Try using another CPU if needed.

I attempted all your suggestions except verifying the CMOS battery voltage and testing another CPU. Do you need to use a multimeter or can you check this through the computer system? Since you don’t have another CPU available, it’s unlikely the issue is with the motherboard. If it’s just a CPU problem, replacing it should be fine.

You can use a multimeter, voltmeter, or battery tester that works with 3.3V batteries. If you don’t have one, simply swap the battery out—it’s inexpensive. There’s about a 60% likelihood it’s the CPU (memory controller) and 40% the motherboard. If it’s the CPU, the issue will appear on another board, and if it’s the board, the same problems will occur with another CPU.

I remember now I replaced the CMOS battery but it didn’t solve the problem. Probably needs a new motherboard to check if the CPU or board is the issue. It’ll have to wait a bit.
