The chances of water harming the internal CPU PCIe lanes differ from the traces or socket on the motherboard. Should I replace the mobo or conduct further checks to locate a faulty part? A spill from my coffee spilled onto my desk and spread across my workstation, quickly powering off. I unplugged it hastily but couldn’t stop the blue screen or shutdown. I disassembled everything, cleaned with a lot of isopropyl, exposed it to low-pressure air, and left it near a fan for two days. After applying fresh thermal paste and re-assembling on a test bench, it still won’t boot. Debugging LEDs cycle through the process, but there’s no display. I tried swapping it with an older Nvidia card—still no boot. On another x16 slot, it works fine after restarting Windows twice. Everything else seems functional, yet the physical port behaves like a gen4 x1 connection, which prevents booting. It looks like the main PCIe port might be faulty. Should I contact a local shop to test my CPU/mobo on their bench or check if they have spare parts? Or is it likely the motherboard itself and I should replace it? Have you checked without your CPU cooler to determine if it fits in the main compartment?

I don't believe I attempted that. Could you clarify what happens when you remove the cooler?

Reduces stress on the CPU socket, excessive pressure may lead to issues.

I understand. My early tries had the aio loosely connected just to test getting into the BIOS.
