Noctua nh-d14 or be quiet! Dark rock pro 3
Noctua nh-d14 or be quiet! Dark rock pro 3
Which cooler is most suitable for keeping an overclocked i5 7600K at 4.9 ghz or below: Noctua nh-d14 or be quiet! Dark rock pro 3?
P.S. I don’t mind making noise... I just want top performance.
Either option works fine.
I’ve tried the NH-D14 before, but it’s quite big.
There was an issue with it making contact on the back of my graphics card in the first slot.
I strongly recommend the updated NH-U14s.
They have a slight redesign to accommodate graphics cards and to fit RAM with tall heat spreaders.
The NH-D15s is a larger cooler, but I don’t think it’s significantly better.
Your chances of achieving a 4.9 OC are solid.

What percentage of samples can achieve an overclock at a vcore near 1.4v?
I5-7600K
5.1 28%
5.0 52%
4.9 72%
Keep in mind you should provide fresh air to the cooler for it to perform well.
Something like two 120mm front intakes or more would help.
I use a NH-U12s to reach 4.9 and my only intake is...

I personally rely on a Bequiet Dark Rock Pro 3. It appears significantly improved over the Noctua NH-D14/15, even though it runs about 2-3 degrees cooler on an OC i7 6700K. It is extremely quiet, which is a big advantage. However, setting it up can be challenging (similar issues with the Noctua). P.S. I suggest placing the cooler outside the case. I used the thermal paste that came with the CPU cooler—it offers a denser formulation compared to options like Arctic Silver 5.
