Yes, I understand it will use an AM4 socket and should work with older motherboards. I’m curious if they’ll release a new line of updated motherboards featuring improved CPUs. Regarding the appearance, I’m not sure why Intel’s boards seem better compared to AMD’s in terms of design. For now, it shouldn’t be a major issue as long as the CPUs deliver the promised performance and beat Intel’s latest offerings.
They haven't released any new motherboards yet; they could come out next year or continue using the 500-series boards since they seem sufficient in features. It would be better to avoid launching new boards so they can introduce the next 6000-series CPUs with 600-series motherboards and possibly a new socket.
They mentioned specific years like 2021 or 2022, so we’re focusing on those time frames.
Are you referring to the 6000-series processors? A confirmation hasn't been made yet, and their timeline suggests a possible release window from 2021 to 2022.
The 550s and X570 were built around the 5000 CPU, raising questions about speed ahead of the 6000 release. Yes, they used a different socket compared to the 6000, which was the final AM4 socket.
I don't agree with that. The X570 and B550 chipsets are built for the 5000 series. With the introduction of the 6000 GPU, it's clear what AMD intended for a completely custom build. CMIIW, this is the first instance a firm offers a full DIY CPU+MB+GPU set with optimizations—unless you count Apple or Intel integrated graphics. Developing a chipset takes time, which is why they outsource it to AS Media (ASUS subsidiary). I don't see any reason for AMD to create another AM4 chipset; perhaps they're gearing up for a DDR5 platform now.
