Return to version 7. You can purchase an authentic Win 7 Pro 64 retail copy for around $200–300. My setup uses a Ryzen CPU, and with the user patches it performs exceptionally well. I’m not concerned about dx12, and most games look fine in dx11 according to me. Linux is mainly useful for mining. I use my mining rigs on Ubuntu or Ethos, whichever works best at the moment.

It’s quite brief, isn’t it? Windows 7 won’t receive any more security patches after 2020.

MS appears to be pushing users away from the final stable version of their software. That’s quite unusual.

Lol, Windows 7 is the updated version of XP, and everyone knows XP is pretty secure.

Have you actually played the game in WINE? It keeps improving and the list of supported platforms seems to change infrequently, meaning games labeled as problematic might still function on the latest version. Also, based on your CPU count, you might be able to run a virtualized Windows environment on the second monitor, allowing both Linux and Windows to operate simultaneously. Right now I use Intel HD Graphics for Linux with my GTX 1070 Ti routed through the VM, so I can play games in Windows 10 on my TV while running Linux on my screen. The drawback is that if you don’t allocate CPU cores to the virtual machine, latency can occur (Linux may take over resources) which might affect HDMI audio quality. I don’t set aside cores because I spend most of my time in Linux, so I’d rather keep them active. However, if you play more often it could be beneficial. Also, depending on the title, those problems are usually minor—like slight stutters in South Park Stick of Truth, which is a small cost compared to staying productive in Linux without interruptions. I’m using Intel hardware, which limited my options; knowing that might have led me to consider a Ryzen later.

Linux offers a wide range of tools, not just the ones you prefer, and it provides robust development teams, especially for well-supported platforms like Ubuntu. It's worth noting that macOS also relies on external components beneath its foundation.

It's a legacy system and eventually they must retire it to concentrate on newer solutions. This pattern applies to any organization. Apple discontinues support for older Mac OS versions for comparable reasons. The same applies to Google regarding Android.

Stop justifying MS. No business should be defended for its mistakes toward customers. That’s why I hate the apple community, valvefags and blizzdrones. Despite loving my iPhone, having a Steam account, and growing up with Blizzard games, I won’t stand for companies when they fail.
