Motherboard model: ASRock B550M Steel Legend BIOS version unknown. CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5700X. RAM: 2x8GB Ballistix at 3600MHz. Storage: WD Blue 500GB (test only). Power supply: Corsair CX500. Issue: The system won't power on. Troubleshooting steps: After connecting cables and powering up, a blue light appears near the M.2 shield. Pressing the panel button doesn't work. Using a screwdriver also fails. Possible causes: BIOS incompatibility or hardware issue. Checked manufacturer's site—motherboard isn't compatible with 5000 series. Could BIOS problems cause this boot failure? (Note: Parts were available, so compatibility shouldn't be the main concern unless it affects functionality.)

Yes, and yes — if your CPU isn’t compatible with the BIOS, the system won’t start properly and you won’t be able to boot. You’ll need a Ryzen 4000-series processor to update the BIOS. I’d likely head to the closest physical shop that sells CPUs, pick the cheapest option, install the new BIOS, and then bring it back. Amazon can also help, though it might take more time unless there are no local electronics stores nearby.

I plan to try it tomorrow. I expect to flash it directly using the Ryzen 5600X installation. Since my CPU isn’t cheap and is second-hand, I considered an external CPU solution.

Unfortunately, your ASRock board can only flash the BIOS from within the BIOS itself, meaning you’ll need to install an older CPU for it to function properly. AMD likely offers a program that lets you receive a budget CPU for BIOS updates, after which the CPU is sent back to AMD.
