Please note this might not be the right forum for it. I'm new to this process since my current motherboard was defective, so I've returned it for a replacement of the same model and revision. No changes or upgrades will be made to the system. Would this mean I can reinstall my M.2 Windows 10 drive without issues, or would I need to reset everything and install new software? I've already backed up everything for any unexpected problems, but this is unfamiliar territory—any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for understanding, and sorry if I'm in the wrong place.

Don’t need to reinstall Windows or any app. Simply drop the M.2 into a new slot.

You can move your M.2 drive with the Windows setup into a motherboard that shares the same chipset, even if the case maker differs. I swapped mine from an Asus Prime B450m case to an Asrock Steel Legend B450m and it functioned perfectly. All you need is to reinstall chipset drivers and tweak power settings, that’s the main thing.

Be mindful that activating BitLocker encryption requires a corresponding key to access the drive when it connects to another system. You’ll need this key if you use the Windows Home version; it’s not available on the Home edition, though I’ve encountered this with my work laptop.
