Hello, I placed a fresh PC but without an OS. Will I need to run Windows 10 instead of Windows 7 because some parts require it? How can I verify if I can run Windows 7 as planned, or do I have to install Windows 10? #!"

Windows 10 offers better options now, just tweak settings to mimic Windows 7. Download classic shells, bring back the Windows Photo Viewer, turn off the notification center, and more—all in a day’s work. It’s what I achieved. Spoiler: it works.

It's probably more likely that Windows 7 can't run certain games compared to Windows 10. However, any Windows version should work without issues.

He mentioned that some parts, such as the motherboard, might not have available drivers for Windows 7.

It seems running Windows 7 on Kaby Lake or later might prevent Windows Update from functioning. This could be an issue, though I'm not certain. My take is that Microsoft's decision might not have been ideal.

You can set up Windows 7 or later. Most OEM systems restrict this, but it usually works. I favor Windows 10 for its speed and better GPU driver support during games. Either choice is fine.

Microsoft aims to cut costs, boost reliability, and improve maintainability of Windows. Other objectives may be less commendable.

In general, all modern CPUs need Windows 10. Although Windows 7 might function, Microsoft won’t provide any assistance at all. This covers updates, drivers, and security patches—meaning no official support from Microsoft. Since the update system won’t operate, you should check each manufacturer’s site for Windows 7 drivers. While Windows 7 includes some built-in drivers, it’s not reliable for ensuring proper support across all hardware.
