Check the documentation for your B450 motherboard. If the plastic on the CPU cooler backplate is part of the standard design, you likely don’t need to remove it.

I kept it as is. The section doesn<|pad|>, which isn't great for heat release, and the plastic stops metal-to-metal connections.
