I'm using an i5 on the Z97 platform and have everything needed for a Z270 upgrade. I'm curious if it's feasible to transfer my SSD to the new build and just install fresh drivers and a new BIOS without having to reinstall everything from scratch.

For a brand-new installation, it's strongly advised to perform a complete reset.

Perform a fresh setup. https://www.howtogeek.com/224342/how-to-...indows-10/ Also ensure Windows remains active before upgrading, see https://www.howtogeek.com/226510/how-to-...-hardware/

Windows 10 functions well even after a recent hardware upgrade, only requiring about 20 minutes to initialize properly. However, a clean OS installation remains the best choice once you’ve cleared all files and clutter.
