It's not risky to use XMP; I've only tested AMD CPUs and they function well. From what I've learned, EXPO tends to perform slightly better (AMD claims 11%) compared to XMP with 7th generation Ryzen processors. You probably won't need to look for RAM, as your current setup should suffice.
