I thought I’d start a fresh discussion now that I’m sure something’s going wrong with my cooling system. The issue is that my idle temperatures are extremely high—over 85°C—and my CPU temperature jumps right after logging into Windows without any work being done. What I understand is that the AIO cooler is running at around -2400 RPM, there’s no plastic on the cold plate, and the readings match what’s shown in BIOS, AMD Adrenaline, and HWINFO. The cold plate actually touches the CPU because of the thermal paste, and the AIO units don’t get hot or cold, showing consistent temperatures. My setup includes an AMD Ryzen 5800X3D with Corsair iCUE 100Hi. Is my cooler defective even though the software says it’s cooling properly? What could be causing this?

It's typical for the CPU to warm up during startup, reaching around 85°C which is a bit high... But it should cool down to the 40s relatively fast if you let it rest. Have your temperatures dropped steadily or are they staying elevated above 70°C?

Check the cores as well, are all cores hot? if only 1-2cores are hot at idle its fine. I found a reddit user who said 5800x and h150i. I idle between 40 and 50 degrees but their cooler is 150% the size of yours 240 vs 360mm it's possible the cooler is underpowered for your cpu. Where do you have the cooler mounted? is there plenty of airflow? Ideally I would have it venting out the top so heat rising helps. Meybe task manager and see if your computer has a virus/is mining crypto. Also if the inside of your PC is too toasty it will hurt the performance of the AIO, so make sure you have some intake fans, I like more intake than exhuast fans for the wird dust lines that form with too many intake fans. Is your AIO pump plugged into a pump port on your motherboard? I would use manufacures reccommended port. Don't overtighten your cpu heatsink but it should be tight, I believe AMD has torque spec for it use the tool that came w the CPU.

I recently assembled a new PC and noticed the temperatures rise rapidly once it powered up. I have three intake and three exhaust fans installed. The AIO is connected to "CPU FAN 1" since there isn't an AIO header, as shown in the official Corsair setup video. My radiator is positioned on top of my case.

You're seeing the Commander Core labeled as "unknown USB Device" in Device Manager, which might be linked to recent changes or issues. It seems unrelated to cooling problems since your setup uses the same AIO. Could this affect how it boots or communicates?

Mounting on the top, isn't it expelling exhaust efficiently? What model? Check by removing the side panel to test airflow. If the top is damaged or made of glass, that might be the issue. Device manager often fails with such hardware—remember a user had similar problems in Dev Manager; verify drivers. Consider checking motherboard fan ports. I’m not sure if this matches the Reddit user you mentioned, but they reported 150i running at 40-50°C idle with a larger cooler. Are Windows updates current?

Tried without any panels and it’s really draining. I’m just swapping it for the AIO Cooler. The temp jumps to 80°C in half a second once the PC starts. No sense in it anymore, even with everything set up properly—especially since it hits that high instantly without any work.

Adjust the CPU mounting screws slightly and observe if it improves stability for many users.

I also attempted the same fix using loosening and lightning screws. I’m convinced it’s faulty. I’ll send it back through Amazon and order a replacement air cooler.
