Not always. My approach was more focused on XMP settings. RAM performance in DDR4/5 depends heavily on timing. I usually check compatible options on the motherboard site and choose products with matching specs—same capacity, speed, clock rate, and quantity—but from a different manufacturer. This often saves money. Corsair’s timing tends to work well for AMD systems, so you’re unlikely to encounter issues. When XMP is activated, you might notice the clock speed drops below what the seller claims. Most DDR4/5 RAM operates above the CPU’s memory transfer rate. You’ll typically see it capped at around 3200MHz on typical boards.
I don’t focus too much on the motherboard QVL because it’s rarely complete and seldom refreshed when new kits go out or older ones become obsolete. I’m sure Rev. X is just a way to mention it has an unlocked PMIC, so you can push it to 1.45V+ if needed. Also, with the tRCD being a bit higher on this unit, I think it might be Hynix and should work better, though I’d still prefer a lower CAS latency chip if possible. Since there are many other memory kits offering cheaper CAS values, this one doesn’t seem very worthwhile to me.
In summary, the RAM I sent should function properly despite being Intel XMP, and it should include an overclocking profile. I’m aiming for a performance-focused or aesthetic white build, which is why I’m choosing this RAM set. Since I’m new to PC building, I have several questions to confirm I’m selecting the correct components.
I don’t see any issues with money, so I’ll just grab it. Even if I lose a bit of performance, I’ll still be satisfied with the RAM. I’m hoping I won’t run into any overclocking problems. Thanks for taking the time to help!
Check compatibility for CMP32GX5M2B6000Z30 with your Asus Prime X670-P AM5 ATX board.
I simply didn’t have time for it. The aesthetics are only 80%. I also discovered I installed the incorrect RAM—specifically the CMP32GX5M2B6000C30W, which I was interested in. The main issue is that earlier in this discussion others mentioned Intel XMP RAM should work with AMD CPUs/MOBO boards, but the product page lists it as compatible only with Intel 600/700 series and doesn’t show it as compatible at all.
The price has jumped significantly. It's your choice, but it's quite surprising. Just remember, the internet doesn't mind your computer's specs.
