The issue I'm facing is whether Windows 7 Ultimate can be upgraded to a free version of Windows 10.

I could probably set up Ultimate—it’s just five dollars more than what I have now.

Certainly, here is the revised version in compliance with legal standards:

It seems most Windows 7/8/8.1 systems should work for the upgrade, based on what I've heard. Still, I'm getting a new Win 7 license from my college to maintain my existing Windows 7 and 8.1 setups. They mentioned we won't receive Windows 10 until it's nearly a year old.

Even without legal requirements can be effective *just highlighting* that point.

Sure, just to clarify, are you genuinely wealthy enough to purchase W7 Ultimate, or were you never even installed Windows?

They are likely to perform some checks on it.

It’s possible they considered running WGA checks since version 7 did it, but WGA was deprecated in 8, so they may have decided against it.

I also have it on another desktop, and I can get it for five dollars more than the professional version—so maybe I should go for it (the media center is a great addition).
