Hello, I am going to build a system with ASRock B650 PG Lightning and ryzen 5 7600. I think an old 600w Be quiet system power 9 should be fine, but I noticed the motherboard has 16 pins for the CPU and the PSU has only 8 pins. Taking into consideration the CPU, will it be a problem if I run the board with only 8 pins on the CPU? The PSU was used with ASUS TUF b450 plus gaming and r5 3600 before and hasn't had any issues, but the old board has only 8 connectors. If it it is a problem could you recommend any other alternatives which are 8 pin only for CPU, preferably ATX format. I am looking to use my old PSU and GPU so I can save some money, there are no plans for going to higher wattage cpu for the forseeable future, the machine will not be used for any "productivity" work like video editing.

You don't require the additional eight pins for the Ryzen 5 7600. Everything should work fine.

Thank you! It's true that leaving those eight pins unpopulated might lead to stability problems in certain situations.

Stability problems may arise with top-tier processors when they're pushed beyond their limits. The R5 7600 should handle it without issues.

It's typically required only during intense overclocking alongside LN2 when generating a large amount of power.

Hey team! I thought it was similar, but I wanted to check it out.

Only the CPU needs extra power beyond what the 8-pin can handle. The Ryzen 7600 draws 65 watts, while the 8-pin supports up to 226 watts continuously. I only use one connector for my 7700x and haven’t faced any stability problems.

Actually, unless you're pushing the system too hard, dual 8-pin CPUs likely aren't necessary. It should handle about 384W unless you're wrong. Updated September 30, 2024 by anirudthelinuxwIzard

One 8-pin EPS connector can deliver 250-300 watts to a CPU. The 7600 model uses about 80 watts, but all cores running at full capacity brings the total up to roughly 120 watts when the CPU is overclocked to 5.3 GHz across all cores. High-end motherboards often include two EPS connectors for top processors, though lower-end models typically don’t require them.
