No worries, there are no issues with crossplay.
No worries, there are no issues with crossplay.
Games are increasingly offering PC and console play together. I haven’t experienced crossplay before, as most titles I enjoy are either PC-only or from an earlier era that developers didn’t prioritize. For those who have tried crossplay multiplayer, any worries about console players using aim assist against you seem minor. My interest lies in newer titles like Rogue Company and Apex Legends, which recently added crossplay features.
I only played that game with crossplay that had Warzone in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019). I didn’t see console players having an edge over me, or maybe it was just my skill level. I’m in favor of crossplay—it removes the need to think about which platform your friends use.
Based on how sensitive you are, it's possible to easily miss your opponent. Aim assistants usually handle this problem better.
I've tested both directions—console with mouse and keyboard on PC, plus recent console matches against AIM-assisted players. For me, the biggest worry on the console wasn't the mechanics but potential cheaters. On PC, it's harder to tell if someone has strong aim assist or is using a mouse, since both seem to hit me consistently. Sorry, I'm not very useful except to note that neither aim assist nor mouse advantage matters much if the player isn't paying attention. A skilled player can turn anything into an advantage.
Can be modified easily. For instance in Apex Legends they offer different lobbies for PC and consoles, so if you prefer playing with a PC player the game will direct you to the PC lobby. This was implemented to reduce the disadvantages that console players face as much as possible.
I'm excited to check out Rogue Company. Maybe I'll try Apex Legends next.
