Some detachable gadgets keep flashing briefly after the final access prompt, my card reader does too, but removing the card always worked smoothly once the Windows installation window closed. This seems like a reliable sign—Windows typically manages removable drives safely, especially if they contain internal memory. I’ve experienced one slow USB3 flash drive with a huge cache; it could write at around 60MB/s initially, but due to its cache, it slowed down significantly afterward. It also manipulated the status indicator to appear faster, making small files seem quicker while larger ones took much longer to complete. I never ejected anything except that one, and it performed without issues as long as I waited for it to finish blinking.

It’s odd behavior that occurs when I haven’t interacted with the storage device. It might be attempting to catalog the contents, even though I disabled similar features for WMP. Probably just a default action.
