You're just starting with Linux after using Ubuntu, and you're having trouble connecting to Wi-Fi on your HP Pavilion AB 065N. It's normal to run into this issue. Try checking your network settings, ensuring the correct SSID and password are entered, and verifying that your device is properly connected. If the problem persists, let me know more details for further help.

View hardware connected via USB and PCI using lspci and lsusb. Then consult the Debian wiki for relevant drivers and kernel modules to enable Wi-Fi functionality.

Maybe this will address your issue by installing the nonfree firmware package.

Occasionally the firmware inside drivers is exclusive. This means it can't be added during the standard Linux setup. For an old XP laptop like this, you should link your device to your router via a cable and execute the command mentioned by @Dr.Fr4nk3n5731n. This will retrieve the required driver.

Absolutely correct, I should have noted the network requirement for downloading the package. Appreciate the clarification @Donut417.
