Hello, this is an issue with my roommates computer. Whenever we install the video driver the screen turns black because no signal is provided from the graphics card. Computer restart, no fix. Reinstall windows without internet works because it isn't able to install the graphics driver. We originally fixed this issue by switching HDMI cables (that somehow worked?) so we assumed maybe the cord itself wasn't up to spec (the only thing upgraded was the GPU, the monitor is 1080p60hz, so it makes no sense for why switching cords worked) (When I upgraded my setup to a 1440p144hz monitor I needed a new cord, which DOES make sense). However the issue is back. For example, whenever he starts a game as soon as things begin to get rendered and load in the screen goes back to black. The computer fails to boot into windows half the time, because it goes to black. Boots in BIOS/UEFI fine. Ryzen 5 2600 AMD 6800 XT 2x16GB DDR4 2400 MHz (no XMP) 1080p60hz monitor via HDMI Asrock AB320M motherboard Recap of things tried 1. reinstalled windows 2. try updating graphics driver 3. sometimes updating the driver outright fails
The display simply turns off, and it’s using the PSU connected to the system.
The computer is active and operating smoothly. The power supply delivers 750W, while the system is expected to consume around 550W. No performance enhancements have been applied.
