It’s hard to locate a standard retail copy of Windows 8.1 because most versions are sold through OEM partners.

you might prefer a retail version because it offers a tangible experience—just like stepping into a physical store.

I discovered a Retail Pro version here: https://www.google.co.uk/shopping/produc...2&bav=on.2 This appears to be a link to a Windows 8.1 retail edition. I also found another listing labeled "Windows 8.1 Complete" which seems similar but not identical. Both options are available on Ebuyer, with prices noted as quite affordable.

I purchased it from a business seller named "gamecentre" on eBay. The code was sent via email, and it’s the complete PRO version—no OEM included. Price was £40.

That seems questionable. Fortunate it wasn’t

Never needed to contact Microsoft with OEM disks. Worked smoothly even after installing a new motherboard.

I thought similarly, yet the seller provided 100% feedback and verified with me prior to purchase that it was the official full pro version, not an OEM, and advised me to check with Microsoft once I received the code to confirm.
