Last month I came across a report saying they planned to launch it by the end of 2019 or early 2020. No updates on a future release have appeared. Is AMD completely abandoning the B550 concept? In my opinion, these boards offer little real value compared to the B450, especially with PCIe 4.0 support? The main drawback seems to be the limited relevance of these cards, which could only be useful if you invest in something far more powerful than the RTX 2080 Ti—something unlikely to appear within a reasonable timeframe at such prices.

It doesn’t look like any output is happening. At least some renderings should be done if production was imminent. With B450 boards now featuring updated BIOS chips and built-in Ryzen 3000 support, I believe B550 is essentially obsolete.

Whispered there would be no support for Gen 4. But what's the use then? The budget line can be covered with a B450. In six months we should see another Ryzen model and perhaps a fresh chipset.
