Hello everyone, this is my first time joining the forums. I finally managed to acquire all the components for my new ITX setup, except for the case. I began putting it together inside the MB box. However, I'm still having trouble getting it to boot up.
MB: B650I AORUS ULTRA CPU: 7950x3d (officially supported)
RAM choice 1: CORSAIR Vengeance 96GB (2x48GB) 6400MHz CL32 (CMK96GX5M2B6400C32)
RAM choice 2: Crucial 16GB DDR5 4800MHz CL40 (CT16G48C40U5) (officially supported)
GPU: 3080 TI FE (known to work)
Storage: WD BLACK SN850X (officially supported)
Cooler: NZXT Kraken 240 PSU
Power supply: SF750
Assembly process: Everything proceeded smoothly.
I've assembled systems before, but this is the first time it's been like this. Everything seems to be in place, yet I'm not seeing any output. It's coming from the integrated graphics (HDMI or DP) and the GPU, but nothing. Initially, I thought the RAM was too large or fast, so I updated the BIOS to the latest version. After a small USB stick, renaming the file, and letting the system shut down on its own, it worked. Still nothing. There are no LEDs on the board, so I'm unsure what's happening.
I tried using just one stick, on a different port, with and without the GPU. Today I purchased a 16GB stick from the official list and started over, rechecking connections and even trying another M.2 slot. Still nothing. As a last option, I connected an internal PC beep speaker to listen for any error codes or sounds. It's completely silent. The AIO display says the liquid temperature stays below 25°C, so I'm wondering if the CPU is actually receiving power. The keyboard number lock doesn't light up either, which is unusual. All I get from the board is the BIOS flash indicator.
By now, I'm running out of ideas. Should I return the board or take it to a professional for repair? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
P.S. I'm now proud to own 10 beep speakers. If anyone wants one, I'm giving away 9 of them in Vancouver.
You weren't given enough time. Expect multiple restarts. Clearing the CMOS before proceeding is essential. Disconnect the power supply, remove the CMOS battery for five minutes. Take out all SATA devices and RAM. Once the CMOS is cleared, place one stick of 4800MHz RAM into slot A1. Proceed as instructed and wait for the display to appear. You may operate this with a GPU connected. Ensure you have the correct source for the display, but remember the PC will restart several times—don't power it down. Using Q-Flash Plus A. Before starting: 1. Visit GIGABYTE's site and download the latest compressed BIOS update that matches your motherboard model. 2. Extract the BIOS file, save it to a USB drive formatted with FAT32, and rename it GIGABYTE.bin. (Confirm the USB uses FAT32.) 3. Attach the power cables to the 12V connector (use one if two exist) and the main power connector. 4. Power on the PSU before connecting the USB drive to the Q-Flash Plus port on the back panel. B. With Q-Flash Plus: Press the Q-Flash Plus button, and the system will automatically locate and verify the BIOS file on the USB. The QFLED and rear panel button will light up during matching and flashing. Wait 6-8 minutes; the lights will cease once complete. • If you opt to update manually, ensure your system is off (S5 shutdown). • Reset the BIOS switch and SB switch to defaults if applicable. (Default for BIOS: Boot from main BIOS; default for SB: Dual BIOS.) • On DualBIOS™ boards, the DualBIOS feature will keep updating the backup BIOS after the main flash and restart. After finishing, the system will reboot again and start from the main BIOS. Source: page 6 of the provided document. Edit: You're welcome to the forums!
Forgot to mention. If you still have problems flashing the BIOS it might be worth downloading an older version, I suggest F4. Also I see that the manual is not very good. After you press the flash button, it'll blink for a little while, then stop and blink again for up to 6-8 min (if I recall correctly..) On might board I don't think it's even visible, I use a USB drive with an LED, so I can see while it reads. Go make a cup of coffee or something, then after come back and check if the flashing has stopped. If it even has a LED. Then turn on the PC and wait because it'll reboot several times.
I've received a 7600X that performed perfectly, which confirmed the problem wasn't related to RAM or BIOS. I contacted AMD via RMA for the 7950X3D and received a replacement that's now functioning properly. Thanks for joining the forum and offering your advice – it really helped! Case closed.
