Hello, I have some concerns about setting up Windows 10 on this laptop. The specs are: a Celeron CPU at 2.16 GHz, 4 GB RAM (only 1.89 GB usable), no graphics card, and it already runs Windows 8.1. I’m not sure if it can support Windows 10. The brand is Acer. Could you help clarify this for me?

Yes, it will work with Windows 10. You probably meant the Celeron N2840 processor.

It will function, but I suggest using Lubuntu or a similar distribution instead.

I’d examine why just half of the RAM is accessible before installing 10, thinking it might be sharing memory with the video.

Technically it's possible but I wouldn't suggest it. I'd stick with Ubuntu instead of lighter Linux distros. The interface is quite user-friendly—my 55-year-old stepmother now uses it instead of Windows 10 on her laptop with similar specs. A large community means you can tackle most Linux issues. Running Ubuntu under Windows 10 significantly improves boot time, cutting it down from about 12 to around 3-4 minutes. Personally, I've had to handle far fewer problems since then. Before switching, she experienced issues roughly once a month while using Windows 10; now it's been about five months since that last fix. Overall, it's more stable and she uses the laptop daily.

The speed of the storage (likely an eMMC) combined with the CPU performance will determine your experience. Windows 10 should function, though you may need to wait a bit and choose installations wisely to reduce background activity and task scheduler usage.

I set up Windows 10 32-bit on a gateway laptop that matched its specs, added a 500GB SSD, and boosted the RAM prior to a full clean install. The device is performing well and has remained trouble-free thus far.
