I'm preparing an old Lenovo R500 with a 2GB RAM stick called Ramaxel 2GB 2x8 PC3-8500s-777 HF. I think the model number 777 refers to its CL value. The nearest RAM I can get right now is a Hynix 2GB 2x8 PC3-8500s-7x10-F2. Can these two work together without issues, or do I need identical RAM?

It should function as long as they operate at identical speeds and timing, though I wouldn’t suggest using it. It’s safer to purchase a fresh setup with two 2GB cards. You also came across something on the site.

They need to coordinate if the schedules match. Check if the chips display text on both devices and confirm their timing settings align.

Ramaxel is installed on my laptop, with 'elpida' printed on the chips. Another chip seems to be a different model. They mentioned compatibility based on timing. That's what I'm trying to understand.

Is your laptop equipped to adjust settings? You won’t be purchasing a 2GB SSD anytime soon, will you?

If I understood it, I wouldn’t be here asking. Yes, I need the laptop with 4GB RAM, right?
