I’m considering an upgrade for my i3 9100f and noticed the cyber weekend deal at Newegg. The i7 9700f caught my attention, but I want to know if my MSI H310M Pro-VDH Plus board can support it. If not, I’d love some recommendations for a suitable motherboard in the $60–$90 range.

They don't include a heatsink and you need 182W output? Intel boards are costly, but AMD options like the B450 are budget-friendly. The MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX is a solid choice at around $114 and works with your existing RAM.

I don't have personal opinions, but I can assess whether the ASRock B365M Pro4 could manage the task based on its specifications.

It should manage it, though the memory speed support is weak. At 2666MHz it’s slow and could limit the CPU performance. If you’re okay with that, it should work fine.

9700f is a 65W processor, identical to the 9100f. Since it can't be overclocked, it should perform well.

Improved VRMs enhance performance gains. Thermal velocity boosts often exceed specifications, and keep in mind that eight cores demand greater power than four (TDP reflects heat output, not energy use).
