Looking for an LGA 2066 board under $300 with Intel C422 chipset that fits your i9 7900X. The Lenovo ThinkStation P520C board should work, according to some sources.

The ThinkStation was designed exclusively with Xeon W processors. According to Intel's specifications, the chipset only supports a limited selection of Xeon D and Xeon W CPUs, not standard core CPUs.

Thanks for the response. I noticed the CPU list, but I was hoping for a change or adjustment since I remember reading about someone modifying the i9 to use an Intel chipset C422.

It might work, but you'd need a tailored BIOS—something rare. It's similar to attempting an 8th gen Intel CPU on a board built for older generations. Yes, the same LGA1151 socket exists, but you'll likely require custom firmware for the motherboard to function properly.

The CPUs differ between CoreX and Xeon W models. Dell provides T5820 and T5820X options, while HP seems inconsistent. The Z4 G4 appears to support both CPU types, but the specifications note a chipset variation. Lenovo MBs might work with X series CPUs, though details are unclear. C422 supports W2xxx Xeons with ECC RAM up to 256GB, and the X299 is for CoreX CPUs with 128GB UDIMMs.
